Devotional: Look to the Future, Not the Pit

Look to the Future, Not the Pit

Scripture: John 14:1 — “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.”

Too often, we dwell on the hardships we have endured. We replay our mistakes, regrets, or pain, as if looking backward will change anything. Joseph’s life teaches us a different way: the pit is not the destination. God calls us to look forward.

Faith is trusting that God is always present, guiding us even through darkness. When Joseph was sold into slavery, falsely accused, and imprisoned, God was with him. Step by step, God led him toward the palace. In the same way, God walks with us, moving us from difficulty to blessing, from sorrow to joy.

We are invited to focus on tomorrow, to let go of the past, and to trust in God’s plan. Even when circumstances seem overwhelming, God is always up to something good. Our future holds the key, and our hearts are safe in God’s hands.

Prayer: Loving God, help us lift our eyes from the pit and look to the future you have prepared. Fill us with hope, joy, and courage as we trust your guidance. Amen.

Devotional: Blessed and Highly Favored

Scripture: 1 John 4:4 — “Greater is the one who is in you than the one who is in the world.”

We may not always feel favored. Life can feel heavy, full of fear, or uncertain about the future. Yet Scripture assures us that we are blessed and highly favored. Just as Joseph experienced God’s favor in prison and in palace, we, too, walk under God’s protection and guidance.

Favor is not about circumstances—it is about God’s presence. Even when we cannot see it, even when the situation seems hopeless, God is with us, recalculating our path, leading us toward joy, victory, and purpose. Our faith allows us to trust in this promise, even when emotions falter.

We are called to live in confidence, courage, and hope. When we focus on the Prince of Glory, rather than the pits we face, we find strength to rise above the past.

Prayer: Loving God, help us to walk confidently in your favor. Renew our trust, uplift our hearts, and guide us forward with hope and courage. Amen.

Devoltional: Your Destiny

Your Destiny

Scripture: Psalm 30:5 — “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”

Life often brings unexpected setbacks. Like Joseph, we can feel betrayed, abandoned, or trapped in circumstances beyond our control. Yet the pit is never our destiny. God’s favor remains with us, even when we cannot see it. Every hardship can be a steppingstone to something greater.

Joseph’s life reminds us that struggles refine us, prepare us, and guide us toward God’s intended purpose. We may not feel favored in the moment—whether facing loss, heartbreak, or injustice—but God’s presence surrounds us. Every challenge is temporary, and every trial has meaning in the hands of a loving God.

Beloved, the past does not define your future. Lift your eyes from what is behind you and set your heart on what lies ahead. Trust that God is leading step by step toward the palace, toward joy, and toward fulfillment.

Prayer: Loving God, remind us that our struggles are not the end. Strengthen our faith, renew our hope, and guide us toward your promises. Amen.

Devotional: Trusting God

Scripture Reference: Romans 8:28; Job 12:13-16; Isaiah 2:22; Jeremiah 17:5-8; Isaiah 40:31

In times of hardship and injustice, our instinct may be to question God's sovereignty over our lives. We may create exemptions, thinking God couldn't have willed certain tragedies or challenges. Yet, the lives of Joseph, Job, and others in Scripture teach us a different perspective.

Have you ever wrestled with doubts about God's control over difficult circumstances in your life?

How does the truth of Romans 8:28 impact your understanding of God's sovereignty?

Joseph's life exemplifies unwavering faith in God's sovereignty. Despite betrayal, slavery, and imprisonment, Joseph never doubted God’s company. His conviction echoed the truth later expressed by Paul in Romans 8:28—that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

Consider areas in your life where you struggle to trust God's sovereignty? How can you surrender those concerns to God today?

Reflect on Isaiah's admonition to trust in God rather than in human strength or understanding. How can you cultivate a deeper reliance on God's eternal wisdom?

As we meditate on Joseph's example and the truths from Scripture, may we find reassurance in God's unchanging character and faithfulness throughout every season of life. Let us anchor our trust in God’s love, knowing that God sustains us, empowers us, and leads us through every trial and triumph according to eternal love.

 Prayer:

Loving God, in moments of doubt and disillusionment, remind me of Your presence in every detail of my life. Help me to trust Your wisdom and timing, knowing that You work all things for my ultimate good and Your glory. Strengthen my faith to wait upon You with hope and endurance, believing that Your plans for me are perfect. Amen.

Sermon Notes: The Pit (part II)

Have you ever felt trapped, as if life has placed you in a pit with no way out? It can feel overwhelming, but the pit is not your destiny. There is a future full of promise waiting for you—a life filled with joy, peace, and abundance. No matter the challenges you face, you have the capacity to overcome them and step fully into your potential.

You are destined for greatness. As a child of the King, you carry a special identity and purpose. Your life is meant to shine with significance, and the doors of opportunity are open before you. Just as Joseph rose from hardship to prominence, and as leaders have emerged from challenging circumstances throughout history, you too can rise above difficulties. Sometimes the hardest moments are the ones that shape the most remarkable triumphs.

Trials do not define you; they refine you. Negative voices and discouragement may surround you, but your focus must remain on the path ahead. Keep your eyes on the promise of your future, and do not allow temporary setbacks to diminish your vision.

Through every moment, you are not alone. There is a power at work in your life that can transform struggles into blessings and confusion into clarity. Trust in the plan set before you, even when it does not seem clear, and move forward with confidence.

The pit is not your destiny. You are meant for greatness, and your best days are still to come. Keep your head high, your heart open, and your faith strong.

Sermon Notes: The Pit (part I)

Introduction

Imagine a family with thirteen kids, four wives, and one dad who has a clear favorite. It sounds chaotic, right? Well, that's exactly what Joseph's life was like. Let's dive into this crazy family drama and see what we can learn about sin, dreams, and God's love.

I. Sin Starts in the Heart

Joseph was the golden child, the apple of his dad's eye. But his brothers weren't too happy about that. Their jealousy turned into hatred, and eventually, they plotted to kill him. This shows us that sin doesn't always start with big, bad actions. It can start with small, negative feelings in our hearts.

II. God's Dream vs. Our Dreams

Joseph had a dream about being a big shot, ruling over his brothers. But God had a different plan for him. Sometimes, our dreams don't line up with God's plans. It's important to remember that God knows what's best for us, even when we don't understand it.

III. Suffering and Redemption

Joseph's life took a major turn when his brothers sold him into slavery. He went through a lot of pain and suffering, but God was with him every step of the way. This story reminds us that even in the darkest times, God's love and faithfulness never fail.

Conclusion

So, what can we take away from this crazy family drama? First, sin starts in the heart. Second, God's plan for our lives is always better than our own. And third, no matter what we go through, God's love is always there for us.

Devotional: Gratitude in God's Plan

Understanding the secret of thankfulness lies in constantly reminding ourselves of God’s overarching plan for redemption through Jesus Christ. God’s plan is one of reconciliation, filled with love and restoration for all creation.

Joseph experienced a glimpse of God’s plan through prophetic dreams, which foretold his future leadership even over his family, triggering his brothers’ jealousy and betrayal. Despite the hardships of slavery and imprisonment, Joseph held onto these dreams as divine messages from God.

When Joseph’s brothers bowed before him in Egypt, unknowingly fulfilling his childhood dreams, Joseph saw how God turned their evil intentions into a greater good (Genesis 50:20).

In times of adversity, it’s challenging to believe in God’s goodness, but Romans 8 reassures us that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

Like Joseph, let us be thankful for God’s divine plan that brings salvation and restoration. Just as Joseph recognized God’s hand in his life, we too can find gratitude in God’s promises and plan for our lives. Despite difficulties, God’s overarching purpose ensures that even the darkest moments can be turned into opportunities for joy.

May we cultivate a heart of thankfulness, grounded in the knowledge of God’s faithful and loving plan, trusting that God’s purposes will prevail in our lives. In every circumstance, may we find reasons to give thanks, knowing that God’s plan for us is filled with hope and redemption.

Prayer:

Loving God, teach us the secret of thankfulness through Your divine plan of redemption. Like Joseph, help us hold onto Your promises amidst trials, believing You work all things for our good. Grant us strength to see Your hand in every circumstance, knowing Your love restores and reconciles. May we cultivate a heart of gratitude, acknowledging Your faithfulness and trusting Your purpose in our lives. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Sermon Notes: The Wellspring of Time with God

Have you ever felt a deep longing for something more in your life? A sense of peace, purpose, or connection? Perhaps what your soul craves is a deeper relationship with God. Spending intentional time with Him is like filling a cup that's been running on empty. This relationship can bring a profound sense of fulfillment and transformation, meeting the deepest needs of our hearts.

Consider the example of Jesus, the Son of God, who frequently took time away from the crowds to connect with His Father. If He, the divine, felt the need for solitude and communion with God, how much more do we, as His followers? It's in these quiet, sacred moments that we find refreshment for our weary souls and strength for our daily journey.

Let's be honest, life is busy. Our days are filled with responsibilities, obligations, and countless distractions that pull us in every direction. Amidst this chaos, it can be challenging to carve out time for spiritual nourishment. However, even a few minutes each day dedicated to connecting with God can make a world of difference. Think of it as watering a garden; consistent care and attention lead to vibrant growth and blossoming.

So, how do we start this journey of deepening our relationship with God? There are many paths to spiritual intimacy, and it's essential to find what resonates most with you. One way is through prayer, where we pour out our hearts to God, sharing our joys, sorrows, hopes, and fears. Prayer is a dialogue that allows us to cultivate a close, personal relationship with our Creator.

Another powerful practice is the reading of Scripture. By immersing ourselves in God's Word, we allow God's truths to seep into our souls, guiding our thoughts, actions, and decisions. The Bible is a wellspring of wisdom, comfort, and inspiration, offering us insight into God's character and God's desires for our lives.

Additionally, simply sitting in silence can be a profound way to connect with God. In a world that constantly demands our attention, silence allows us to quiet our minds and open our hearts to God's presence. It's in these moments of stillness that we can sense God's gentle whispers and feel God's loving embrace.

Remember, there is no perfect formula for connecting with God. The key is consistency and intentionality. It's about making time for God a priority, not an afterthought. Whether through prayer, Scripture, silence, or other spiritual practices, what matters most is the genuine desire to know Him more deeply.

As we commit to spending intentional time with God, we'll discover a wellspring of peace, purpose, and love that will transform our lives from the inside out. Our relationship with God will become a source of strength and guidance, helping us navigate the complexities of life with grace and wisdom. We will find that our longings for peace, purpose, and connection are met in the presence of a loving and faithful God.

In this pursuit of a deeper relationship with God, we not only find personal fulfillment but also become conduits of God's love to the world around us. As we grow closer to God, our lives reflect God's grace and compassion, impacting those we encounter and contributing to a more loving and just world.

Sermon Notes: Joseph's Dreams

Dreams are the architects of our reality, shaping our aspirations and propelling us towards extraordinary achievements. They are the seeds planted in the fertile soil of our minds, blossoming into tangible accomplishments. Just as a captain charts a course for his ship, our dreams provide the roadmap for our lives. In this message, we will explore the significance of dreams, the challenges we may face in pursuing them, and the essential role of God in turning our dreams into reality.

The Significance of Dreams

Dreams are more than mere wishes; they are the blueprints for our destiny. They ignite our passions, fuel our determination, and give our lives purpose. When we dream, we tap into a realm of limitless possibilities. Like a compass pointing north, dreams guide us towards our true potential.

Overcoming Obstacles

The path to realizing our dreams is seldom smooth. Obstacles, setbacks, and self-doubt may arise, attempting to derail our progress. Yet, these challenges are not roadblocks but opportunities for growth. With perseverance, resilience, and a steadfast belief in ourselves, we can overcome any hurdle. Remember, every setback is a setup for a comeback.

The Role of God

Joseph's dreams came from God that's why they became a reality.  When our dreams are godly, God works for our good. God is the ultimate architect of our lives when our dreams align with the divine grand plan. By seeking God's guidance, surrendering our will to God's, and trusting in God's perfect timing, we invite blessings upon our endeavors.

Dreams are not merely illusions; they are the blueprints for our destiny. With God as our compass and perseverance as our guide, we can navigate the challenges and reach the heights of our aspirations. Let us dare to dream big, work diligently, and trust in God's perfect timing. For in God's hands, our dreams can become a magnificent reality.

Remember, every great achievement began as a dream. So, dream boldly, believe passionately, and watch your dreams unfold.

Sermon Notes: Blessed in Adversity

Have you ever wondered how someone can remain blessed even in the midst of adversity? Today, we'll explore the story of Joseph to learn how God can bless us, even when we're going through difficult times.

I. Blessed Despite Circumstances

  • God's Presence: Joseph was blessed because God was with him, even when he was a slave.
  • Success in Adversity: God can provide everything we need to be successful, no matter our circumstances.
  • Trust in God: The key to being blessed is trusting in God, even when things are tough.

II. Being Blessed is More Than Power

  • Servanthood: Being blessed doesn't mean being in charge or powerful. It means serving others.
  • Jesus' Example: Jesus chose to be a servant, even though He had all the power in the world.
  • Humility: To be great, we must be humble and serve others.

III. The Choice is Ours

  • Joseph and His Brothers: Joseph was blessed because he trusted God, while his brothers were enslaved by their own guilt and shame.
  • Freedom in Servanthood: Even when we're in difficult situations, we can find freedom in serving others.
  • God's Blessing: God blesses us not because of our merits, but because of Jesus.

Conclusion

In conclusion, being blessed is not about our circumstances or our achievements. It's about trusting in God, serving others, and letting Jesus be in charge of our lives. When we do this, we can find true freedom and peace, even in the midst of adversity.

Devotional: From Suffering to Spiritual Fruit

Joseph's life mirrors the truth Jesus taught about spiritual growth—like a seed that must die to bear fruit (John 12:24). Despite enduring betrayal and unjust suffering, Joseph remained steadfast in his faith and obedience to God.

Joseph's hardships weren't meaningless; they were integral to God's larger plan to bring about salvation and preservation during a time of famine (Genesis 50:20). Similarly, our own trials can serve as opportunities for God to cultivate spiritual maturity and fruitfulness within us.

When we face difficulties, it's tempting to question God's plan or feel overwhelmed by our circumstances. However, Joseph's example reminds us that God is at work even during our struggles. As we trust in God’s promises and remain faithful, God uses every trial to shape us into vessels capable of bearing spiritual fruit.

Just as Joseph's suffering led to the preservation of many lives, our perseverance through trials can lead to greater spiritual maturity and a deeper understanding of God's faithfulness. Let's embrace each challenge as an opportunity for growth, knowing that God's purposes for us are good. Our loving God uses every circumstance to mold us, strengthen our faith, and ultimately fulfill divine plans, the building of God’s kindom through the transformation of our lives.

Prayer:

Lord, in times of trial, help us remember Your promise that all things work together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28). Give us the strength and faith to endure, knowing that through our suffering, You are shaping us into vessels of Your grace and truth. May our lives bear fruit that glorifies Your name. Amen.

Devotional: Rely on God

Scripture Reference: Romans 8:28, Genesis 45:4-5

Joseph's life journey is a testament to unwavering trust in God's sovereignty. Amidst betrayals, enslavement, and imprisonment, Joseph consistently relied on God's guiding hand. When he finally revealed his identity to his brothers, he acknowledged God's purpose in every trial he endured.

In moments of overwhelming circumstances, it's easy to feel burdened and alone. Joseph's story reminds us that we don't have to carry our burdens alone. When we lean on God, He strengthens us and carries us through. Joseph's reliance on God brought him from the pit to prominence, illustrating God's faithfulness to bring good from every situation.

I encourage you to reflect on a current challenge or burden you're facing. How can you actively rely on God in this situation, trusting God’s wisdom and plan?

Consider times in your life when God has turned difficulties into blessings or lessons. How can you apply Joseph's example of reliance on God to your own life circumstances?

Prayer:

Lord, teach me to rely on You as Joseph did. When I feel overwhelmed by life's challenges, remind me of Your promise to work all things together for good. Help me fix my gaze on You and trust You, knowing that You alone can bring hope and healing. Thank You for Your faithfulness and for carrying me through every trial. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Devotional: Envy and Its Effects

Scripture Passage: Genesis 37:3a-4

In the narrative of Joseph and his brothers, we encounter a poignant display of familial jealousy and its destructive consequences. Joseph, the son of Jacob's old age and the beloved of his father, faced resentment from his brothers due to the favoritism shown towards him. This favoritism was not just perceived but was openly displayed, exacerbating the animosity among them.

Jacob's preference for Joseph stemmed from various factors: Joseph was born to Rachel, Jacob's most cherished wife, and he was born in Jacob's later years, bringing a special joy to his father. However, these circumstances bred envy and bitterness among Joseph's brothers, who felt overlooked and overshadowed.

Jealousy and envy are common human emotions that can lead to profound strife and division, even among those closest to us. When someone else receives recognition, favor, or attention that we desire, it can stir up feelings of inadequacy, resentment, and bitterness within us.

Reflect on your own life: Is there someone who seems to possess qualities, relationships, or opportunities that you deeply long for? Perhaps it's a friend's success, a sibling's favor, or someone else's achievements that leave you feeling overlooked or undervalued.

As we navigate our relationships and aspirations, let us guard against the seeds of envy and bitterness. Instead, let us cultivate gratitude for our own blessings and seek to celebrate the successes and joys of others. In doing so, we honor God's plan and unique gifts to each of God’s children.

Prayer:

Loving God, help me to confront and overcome feelings of envy and bitterness. Grant me the grace to rejoice with others in their blessings and to find contentment in the unique path you have set before me. May I trust in your timing and provision, knowing that your plan for my life is perfect. Amen.

The Story of Joseph and his Brothers - Genesis 37-50

The story of Joseph and his brothers, found in the Book of Genesis chapters 37-50, is a tale of jealousy, betrayal, and ultimately, reconciliation and forgiveness.

Joseph, the 11th son of Jacob (also called Israel) and his favorite because he was the son of his old age and Rachel, received a richly ornamented coat from his father. This favoritism caused envy and resentment among his ten older brothers.

Joseph, a dreamer, further fueled their jealousy by sharing his dreams, which suggested he would one day rule over them. In one dream, he and his brothers were binding sheaves in the field, and his sheaf rose and stood upright while their sheaves gathered around and bowed to his. In another, the sun, moon, and eleven stars were bowing down to him. These dreams made his brothers hate him even more, thinking he was arrogant.

One day, when Joseph was 17, Jacob sent him to check on his brothers who were grazing their flocks in Dothan. Seeing him approach, his brothers plotted to kill him and throw him into a pit, claiming a wild animal had devoured him. However, Reuben, the eldest, suggested they should not shed blood but throw him into a cistern, planning to rescue him later. They stripped Joseph of his coat and cast him into the empty cistern.

While they ate, a caravan of Ishmaelites came by, heading to Egypt. Judah, another brother, suggested they sell Joseph to the Ishmaelites, making some profit and avoiding killing him. The brothers agreed, and Joseph was sold for twenty pieces of silver. They then dipped his coat in goat's blood and presented it to Jacob, who believed a wild animal had killed Joseph, mourning deeply.

In Egypt, Joseph was sold to Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh. Despite being a slave, Joseph prospered because God was with him. Potiphar noticed Joseph's capabilities and put him in charge of his household. However, Potiphar's wife falsely accused Joseph of attempting to seduce her after he refused her advances, leading to his imprisonment.

Even in prison, Joseph found favor. He interpreted the dreams of Pharaoh's cupbearer and baker, accurately predicting their fates—restoration for the cupbearer and execution for the baker. When Pharaoh had troubling dreams that no one could interpret, the cupbearer remembered Joseph and mentioned him to Pharaoh. Joseph interpreted Pharaoh’s dreams, predicting seven years of abundance followed by seven years of severe famine. Impressed, Pharaoh appointed Joseph as second-in-command of Egypt, overseeing the storage of surplus grain.

When the famine struck, Joseph's brothers came to Egypt to buy grain, not recognizing him. Joseph, however, recognized them and tested their integrity by accusing them of being spies. He imprisoned Simeon and demanded they bring their youngest brother, Benjamin, to prove their honesty. Reluctantly, Jacob allowed Benjamin to go.

When they returned, Joseph hosted them, revealing his identity only after testing their character further. He wept and forgave them, seeing God's hand in his journey to save many lives. He invited Jacob and the entire family to live in Egypt, providing for them during the famine. Jacob, overjoyed, reunited with Joseph before passing away in Egypt.

Joseph's story is a powerful narrative of God’s providence, the transformation of character, and the triumph of forgiveness over vengeance. Despite the betrayal and suffering, Joseph rose to a position where he could save his family and countless others, demonstrating that God can turn even the most dire situations into instruments of grace and redemption.

Here’s a breakdown of where you can find key parts of the story:

Genesis 37: This chapter introduces Joseph as the favored son of Jacob (Israel) and recounts how his brothers’ jealousy led them to plot against him, eventually selling him into slavery.

Genesis 39-41: These chapters detail Joseph's experiences in Egypt, including his time as a servant in Potiphar’s house, his unjust imprisonment, and his interpretation of dreams that eventually lead to his rise to power as second-in-command under Pharaoh.

Genesis 42-45: These chapters narrate Joseph's interactions with his brothers when they come to Egypt seeking food during the famine. Joseph tests his brothers' integrity and eventually reveals his identity to them, leading to reconciliation with his family.

Genesis 46-47: These chapters describe Jacob and his entire family’s relocation to Egypt at Joseph's invitation, where they settle in the land of Goshen.

Genesis 48-50: These chapters record Jacob’s blessings upon his sons and grandsons, including Joseph’s two sons Ephraim and Manasseh. The story concludes with Jacob’s death, Joseph's reassurance and forgiveness toward his brothers, and his own eventual death in Egypt.

These chapters in Genesis provide a comprehensive account of Joseph’s journey from being sold into slavery by his brothers to becoming a powerful leader in Egypt, ultimately leading to the preservation of his family and the fulfillment of God’s plan.

Devotional: But God

Scripture Reference: Genesis 50:20

Joseph's life was marked by betrayal, hardship, and injustice. Sold into slavery by his own brothers, falsely accused and imprisoned, Joseph faced numerous trials that could have embittered him. Yet, his response to his brothers years later reveals a profound shift in perspective: "But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive" (Genesis 50:20 NKJV).

In the face of pain caused by others, it's natural to feel anger and injustice. We often struggle to see beyond our immediate circumstances, consumed by what we perceive as undeserved suffering. Joseph's pivotal moment came when he chose to see his life through the lens of God's sovereignty. Instead of dwelling on the wrongs done to him, he acknowledged God's hand in orchestrating events for a greater purpose.

Reflect on a situation where you have felt wronged or betrayed. How might adopting a "But God" perspective change your outlook on this experience?

Consider the ways God might be working behind the scenes in your life, even in moments of pain or adversity. How can you surrender these situations to Him, trusting His ultimate plan?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, in moments of pain and injustice, help me to turn my gaze toward You. Like Joseph, help me to see beyond my immediate circumstances and trust in Your higher purpose. Give me the strength to surrender my hurts and disappointments to You, knowing that You can turn them into something good. Thank You for Your promise to work all things together for good. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Sermon Notes: Jesus and Joseph

 Introduction:

Today, we delve into the story of Joseph, a journey from the pit to the palace, illustrating how one can move beyond crisis to Divine destiny. The story of Joseph is not just a tale of ancient times but a profound reflection of the trials and triumphs we experience in our own lives.

1. Life’s Challenges: At some point in your life, you will encounter rejection, betrayal, false accusations, temptation, bitterness, and resentment. These challenges are part of our human experience. However, through these trials, we also discover the favor of God and the path to God's unlimited prosperity.

2. Moving Beyond Crisis: To move beyond your crisis to your Divine destiny, you must:

•Move beyond your heartaches to achieve your Impossible Dream.

•Move beyond bitterness to receive the favor of God.

•Move beyond your accusers to move from the pit to the palace.

3. Joseph and Jesus: Joseph’s life parallels the life of Jesus in many ways:

•Shepherds: Both Joseph and Jesus are depicted as shepherds, guiding their flocks. Psalm 23 beautifully describes the Lord as our Shepherd.

•Saviors: Joseph saved his family, 70 people living under Jacob, by providing for them during a famine. Jesus saves us by offering eternal life.

4. Symbols of Sacrifice:

•Coat of Many Colors & Seamless Robe: Joseph’s coat was soaked in animal blood by his brothers to deceive their father into thinking he was dead. Similarly, Jesus’ robe was soaked in His precious blood. The hymn "Nothing but the Blood of Jesus" reminds us of this sacrifice.

•Bread of Life: Joseph was sent by his father to his brothers with bread. Jesus was sent by God the Father to earth as the Bread of Life.

5. Rejection and Redemption:

•Rejected: Joseph was rejected by his brothers; Jesus was rejected by His people.

•Gentile Bride: Joseph was given a Gentile bride by Pharaoh. Jesus, through the cross, was given a Gentile bride—the Church.

6. God's Unseen Hand: When you find yourself in a pit, remember that you are God's anointed. Even if you can't see where you're going, trust that God is leading you to a destiny greater than you can imagine.

7. Moments of Despair:

•When your brothers strip you of your coat and throw you in a pit, you might ask, "Where is God?"

•When you are sold into slavery and falsely accused, you might ask, "Where is God?"

•When you are imprisoned and forgotten, you might ask, "Where is God?"

8. God's Guidance: In all these moments, God’s unseen hand is guiding you. Though you are in the pit today, God is leading you to the palace tomorrow.

9. The Revealer of Secrets: Joseph was known as Zephanath Panea, the revealer of secrets. Similarly, Paul writes in Romans 2 that in the day of judgment, God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ. The revealer of secrets is coming.

Conclusion:

Are you ready for the coming of Jesus Christ? When you feel like you're in a bottomless pit, remember that God is with you, leading you to a destiny far greater than you can imagine. Trust in Him, move beyond your crisis, and embrace the Divine destiny He has planned for you.

Celebrating Love: A Reflection on Marriage and God's Love

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." John 13:34-35 (NIV)

Dear friends,

As we celebrate this season of love, I want to take a moment to reflect on the profound gift of love, both in marriage and in the greater love of God. On Valentine’s Day, we often celebrate the love we share with our spouses, but let us also remember the ultimate source of love, the love that flows from our Creator.

In marriage, we experience a reflection of God's love for us. The love between spouses is meant to be a picture of the unwavering, sacrificial love that God shows God's people. As it is written in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." These words remind us that love in marriage, like God's love, should be unconditional and enduring.

But above all, let us not forget the depth of God's love for us. John 3:16 tells us, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." This divine love is not bound by time or circumstance; it is freely given, without expectation, and is the foundation of all the love we share with others.

On this Valentine’s Day, may we celebrate not only the love between us as spouses but also the love that God has lavished upon us, a love that empowers and transforms.

With love and blessings,

Pastor Richard

God’s Faithfulness in Every Season

Scripture: Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV)

"Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness."

As we step into 2025, we can be confident in God’s faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 is a beautiful reminder that God’s love and compassion never fail. No matter what we’ve faced in the past or will face in the future, God's faithfulness is constant. Each morning, we are given a fresh supply of grace and mercy, and each new day is an opportunity to experience love anew.

This year, let’s focus on God’s unchanging nature. While the world around us may change, God remains faithful. God's love is not dependent on our circumstances but is always present, always available. No matter the season of life you find yourself in, God's faithfulness is sure.

Let this year be one where we grow deeper in our understanding of God’s unwavering love. Let us live with the assurance that God is with us every step of the way, and His mercies are new every morning.

Prayer:
Loving God, thank You for Your constant love and faithfulness. I trust that You are with me in every season and that Your mercies are new each day. Help me to rely on Your unfailing love and to see Your hand at work in my life. Thank You for being my faithful companion as I begin this new year. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Renewed Strength

 Scripture: Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

The beginning of a new year can often be a time of feeling both excited and exhausted. The weight of past struggles and the uncertainty of the future can cause us to feel weary. Yet, Isaiah 40:31 gives us a powerful reminder that when we place our hope in the Lord, our strength is renewed.

God’s strength is limitless, and promises that those who hope will rise above their circumstances. Like an eagle soaring high above the storm, we too can rise above the challenges we face. God doesn’t just give us strength to endure; God provides a strength that allows us to soar.

As we embark on 2025, let’s remember that our source of strength is not our own. We are invited to rely on God’s abundant grace and power. When we feel weak, God lifts us up. When we feel tired, God refreshes us. Let this year be a year of renewed strength, as we trust in God's provision and ability to carry us through.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being my source of strength. When I feel weary and worn, I will place my hope in You. Renew my strength and help me to rise above my challenges. I trust that You will carry me through this year, and I look forward to the strength You will provide. In Jesus' name, Amen.
